Midsummer campaign instructions at the end of this blog post.

Finnish Midsummer festivities, known as "Juhannus," are vibrant and deeply rooted in Finnish culture. Here are some fun facts about Finnish Midsummer festivities:

Midnight Sun: Finland is located in the northernmost part of Europe, which means that during Midsummer, the country experiences the phenomenon of the Midnight Sun. In northern Finland, the sun doesn't set at all, creating a unique and magical atmosphere during the festivities.

Bonfires and Saunas: Bonfires play a central role in Finnish Midsummer celebrations. People gather around the bonfires to sing, dance, and enjoy the warm summer evening. Additionally, sauna bathing is an essential part of the Midsummer tradition. Many Finns retreat to their summer cottages and enjoy a relaxing sauna session during this time.

Flower Crowns: It is customary for both children and adults to make and wear flower crowns during Midsummer. These crowns are typically made from fresh flowers and foliage, symbolizing the beauty and abundance of nature during the summer season.

Lakeside Celebrations: Midsummer is a time when Finns flock to the countryside and spend time at their summer cottages, which are often located near lakes or the coastline. Many Midsummer celebrations take place near bodies of water, where people can enjoy boating, swimming, and other outdoor activities.

Traditional Food: Finnish Midsummer celebrations are also marked by traditional food and drinks. Grilled sausages, fresh fish, new potatoes, and various types of salads are commonly enjoyed during the festivities.

Folklore and Magic: Midsummer is steeped in folklore and ancient beliefs. It is believed that during this time, nature is at its most potent, and supernatural beings such as fairies and spirits roam the land. Some traditional customs involve collecting dew from the grass, which is believed to have magical and healing properties.

Finnish Midsummer festivities are a wonderful blend of traditions, nature appreciation, and community gathering. It's a time when Finns come together to celebrate the beauty of summer and enjoy the long daylight hours in the company of family and friends.
